Host Families in Exeter

Accommodation

Living with a host family means you live with a family either in your own room or share with another in a twin room (depending on your request).  Living with a host family during your studying/internship will save you on cost during your stay and also engages you with the British culture and support.  You will live, cook and relax within your family home during your stay, or if you just prefer to study in your room then that is fine too.  All host families are carefully selected and visited and all host families will be of a British council standard.  Most of our host families have been hosting for many years, so they are very experienced and used to having students live with them.  We endeavour to match you to the host family whom is suitable to your needs.  During you stay you must respect and follow your host families house rules at all times, also you must keep the kitchen, bathroom and room tidy after use too.  The families house rules will always be explained to you on your first day of arrival.  On Occasions a student & a family  do experience a problem which arises, unfortunately mostly through lack of communication, but we are available for you and will be happy to help at any time.

Host Family Options

Options within a host family

When you stay with a host family in the UK you can opt for 1 of 3 options.

Room only, room & breakfast or room, breakfast and dinner.

Groups ONLY: Option are usually full board.

1.  Room only: with this accommodation you will only be provided with a room, use of facilities, bathroom, kitchen and wifi, you will need to provide your own food on this option and prepare your own food during your stay.

(this is the most popular option for students/families).

Please just ask your family what time is convenient.

2.  Room with breakfast:  Your host family will provide you with your breakfast on this option, which may consist of toast, cereal, coffee & tea.  Most families will allow you just to help yourself when you are happy to eat your breakfast in the mornings.  If you wish to eat at home for dinner time,  it is best for you to ask the family what time is best for you to use the kitchen.

3.  Room with breakfast and dinner: Half Board:  this is a popular option for students whom are on a placement which is a 9-5 option.  In the Uk dinner is the largest meal of the day and you will be served a warm dinner consisting of vegetables or a well balanced meal.  If you have opted for this option and will be late for dinner or not home, please just advise your family so they can keep do what is necessary.
